Industry News
From more than 400,000 yuan / ton, to the current low of 90,000 yuan / ton, since the first quarter of 2017, the price of lithium hexafluorophosphate has plummeted, and all the way down has almost become "cabbage price", most of the industry enterprises are on the edge of the break-even line.
Analysts believe that the price of lithium hexafluorophosphate is weak, and the production capacity of related companies has expanded rapidly in recent years, and the market supply is more than demand. However, with the steady increase in demand for new energy batteries, coupled with cost increases and other factors, lithium hexafluorophosphate prices have bottomed out, or will be back in warmer in 2019.
Price bottoming
With the rapid development of the new energy automobile industry, the importance of lithium hexafluorophosphate as a raw material for lithium battery electrolyte has attracted market attention. Since the second half of 2015, domestic lithium hexafluorophosphate prices have started to rise, rising to more than 400,000 yuan / ton in a few months, and in 2016 maintained a high level of overall operation.
The optimistic about the new energy auto industry, coupled with the high profit of lithium hexafluorophosphate, has attracted companies from both inside and outside the industry, and the capacity of lithium hexafluorophosphate has rapidly increased in 2016. In 2015, the domestic production capacity of lithium hexafluorophosphate was only 18,180 tons. By the end of 2016, the production capacity has increased to 22,480 tons. More companies have announced plans for the project. In addition to the above-mentioned old fluorine chemical companies, the lithium hexafluorophosphate market has also joined a number of new faces, such as Shi Dashenghua and Yongtai Technology. The price of lithium hexafluorophosphate fell in the context of high supply.
In the first quarter of 2017, the domestic price of lithium hexafluorophosphate began to fall. The current price is between 90,000 yuan and 130,000 yuan/ton. Many industrial enterprises are in a state of loss, and some have closed down the production line.
Li Yunfeng, vice chairman of the company, said in an interview that from the existing production capacity in the market, combined with the announced production plan, there are about 40,000 tons of lithium hexafluorophosphate supply in China. According to relevant statistics last year, the market demand for lithium hexafluorophosphate is about 20,000 tons, so the oversupply situation still exists in a short period of time.
However, this market dilemma of oversupply is expected to reach a balance between supply and demand as market demand grows steadily.
